Nashville rebel Marg Price pandemic diary

The musician spent a year at home, writing, recording new music, cooking, etc., until she could tour again.
Although Margo Price has long regarded herself as a counterculturalist, especially in rural Nashville, she survived the pandemic like many people: stay at home and wait patiently for it to end.
Ms. Price, 37, said in a recent telephone interview: “It’s like pulling a carpet from below me.” “I think the tour and entertainment of the third album at the festival is very interesting, and I just gave birth to a child and it took a lot of time. I am really ready to go back to work.”
Her third studio album “That’s the Way to Get Started with Rumors” was released in July, but on May 28, she will perform for the first time at an outdoor concert outside of Nashville, Pelham, Tennessee. Perform live performances.
Ms. Price is one of many promising musicians who are working with venues that allow social distancing.
She said: “In general, art is really struggling, and we need to find a way to regain it and save the venue where all of us are playing.”
Even during the pandemic, while raising two children with her husband Jeremy Ivey and writing memoirs, Ms. Price went in and out of the studio and recorded two albums.
Ms. Price said of her new music: “I am a disciple of everything close to the ground-rooted music, folk, blues, soul.” “I want to have enough genre so that people can’t fully focus on one thing. thing.”
I wake up at 7 in the morning and drink lemonade first, then black coffee. I made waffles for the children and took my 10-year-old son Judas to Montessori school. For the next few hours, I played with my 1.5-year-old daughter Ramona.
At 9 am, I put on Miles Davis and lighted a fire in the fireplace. We would stretch and dance, play jigsaw puzzles, and then go out to enjoy the sun.
At 10:30 in the morning, I drove to the cash cabin in Hendersonville. I have been working on two albums; it gives me a sense of purpose in the studio, but I cannot play live performances.
At 11 o’clock in the morning, Jeremy and I tuned the guitar and performed some vocal warm-ups. We played a song several times to get the rhythm and started tracking it. We can assign notes to the rest of the band in the future.
At 5 pm, I returned home and took my two children to the local church for a walk while my husband was cooking. (He is responsible for most of the cooking work and is an amazing chef.)
At 5:30 in the afternoon we played hide and seek in an abandoned church. They no longer provide services here, but our neighbor pod is using it as a space in which to teach our children.
At 6:30 in the afternoon we sat down to enjoy a home-cooked dinner. In the past five days, Jeremy stopped recording his next album, so we celebrated his coming home.
At 7 o’clock in the evening, I cleaned the table, washed the dishes and threw a lot of clothes, and Jeremy gave Ramona a bath. My mother, Candace, is helping Judas to study. She has been here a lot during the pandemic, and we couldn’t do it without her!
At 8:30 in the evening, Ramona came out and said: “Mom, sing to me”-she only started speaking in complete sentences a few weeks ago. She asked for “above” (this is what she called “winking little star”) and “somewhere in the rainbow”.
Even though I was going to sleep, I woke up at 8:15 in the morning. Jeremy and I told each other some crazy dreams and crazy dreams.
At 9 o’clock in the morning, Ramona and I brushed our teeth. While I helped Jeremy (Jeremy) write the lyrics for one of his songs, we played Lego (Legos).
Jeremy (Jeremy) 11 am, I just arrived at Frothy Monkey and had breakfast on the outside terrace. I will edit my memoir in the next few hours-I am preparing the second draft and must be submitted by the end of the month. (I’m on page 30 of page 500.)
At 4 in the afternoon, Ramona woke up from a nap, so we were going for a walk. My neighbor owns these two horses that are being rescued, so we like to feed them carrots.
6:30pm Jeremy’s cooked vegetable stir-fry (rice, pepper and oyster mushrooms grown by John Carter Cash and presented to us when we were recording over there).
At 7 o’clock in the evening, we were watching “Toy Story”, but the children were distracted, so we all ran around the house, trying to break free of energy.
At 8pm, I was reading Mona’s book and doing routine activities before bed, while Jeremy helped Judas with some homework.
At 9 o’clock in the evening, Jeremy (Jeremy) started a fire outside. I cracked it with soda and then blasted a joint. We sit here chatting, listening to music and watching the stars.
At 7:30 in the morning, Ramona was playing with magnets and I emptied a piggy bank so that she could put the coins back. This kept her busy for an hour while making breakfast.
Mona puts on red rubber rain boots at 8:45 in the morning, and we are going outside to enjoy the weather. The ice has almost melted, and we are walking along the creek in front of the house. We stopped to throw rocks and splashed around in puddles.
Go home at noon and drink more coffee. I have been editing my books in a large walk-in closet, and then we changed to a part-time office.
At 2 o’clock in the afternoon, I took advantage of the empty house to play a song. Today was great, so I took a guitar outside the swing and practiced finger picking while listening to the birds.
At 4 o’clock in the afternoon, everyone’s home, we wandered on the sofa. Judas is spinning and grinding the stick he found-he wants to make a sword.
At 5 pm, Jeremy and I bought some suits from a place on Music Row called Any Old Iron. It is owned by local designer Andrew Clancey, his designs and beading are so psychedelic and artistic. I adore him. (He also made great sequins and rhinestone masks.)
At 6:15pm, we took dinner from Superica, the great restaurant in Tex-Mex, where I always order tacos. They are sinfully good.
At 7 o’clock in the evening, because my mother missed the nap, my mother had already put Ramona to bed, so Jeremy and I were reading Judas. We will give him extra attention as much as possible, which is very happy, because young children are in great demand.
Open the new “unsolved mystery” at 9:30 pm, I am doing some stretching exercises and free weight exercises. I used to go to the gym a lot, but since the pandemic, I have been forcing myself to exercise at home.
At 9:30 am, my hair and makeup artist Tarryn came to help me with my hair for photo shoots. This is the third time I have dyed my hair or put on makeup in the whole year.
At 2 o’clock in the afternoon, I will pick up Mona from the neighbor, let her take a nap, and then go to take the Covid test. To be safe, I need to take it once a week.
At 5:45 in the afternoon, we set off Billie Holiday and sat down for dinner. We shook hands and Judas led us to pray. His dinner prayers almost always include asking God to help the homeless and end the coronavirus.
At 6:30 in the afternoon, Judas and I entered the music room to play double drums. He beats a beat, I have to copy it, and vice versa.
Both children were lying on the bed at 8:30 in the evening. I went out to enjoy the fire and my friend joined in. We choose the guitar and drink turmeric tea until 12:30 am
Go back to the morning with the children at 8 am and participate in routine morning activities. I make blueberry pancakes, and Ramona plays with pots and pans. The house is really messy-toys are everywhere-but it’s Friday, so I don’t feel pressure on it. I will clean up later.
At 9 o’clock in the morning, we went for a walk but were disturbed by the rain. Back in the house, I am 90-year-old grandmother FaceTime. She defeated Covid a few months ago, but failed to leave the nursing home for a year. We often call her to check in.
Eat oatmeal for breakfast at noon, think of John Prine’s lyrics, and go into the house to pick a guitar.
At 1:00 pm, SiriusXM DJ took over the program of Radio Northern Canada. I made a playlist for International Women’s Day.
At 6:05pm my daughter lost her temper (the terrible two are coming here soon), so I took some time to calm her down. We took a deep breath and sat in a quiet room.
At 7 o’clock in the evening, I gave Ramona a shower and used some washable crayons to distract her so that I could paint on the bathtub while singing and playing the guitar. Jeremy and Judah play “The Legend of Zelda” in his bedroom.
At 10 o’clock in the evening, we opened “Judas and the Black Messiah”. The house is rubbish, but I don’t care-I cleaned it all week and I was very tired. We can worry about it tomorrow.
