Back to school mask tips-news-Monroe news-Monroe, Michigan

Schools in the global health pandemic mean stocking hand sanitizers, disinfectant wipes and masks.
Most Monroe County school districts start on September 8. Although almost every school district has its own set of health and safety guidelines related to COVID-19, they all have one thing in common.
According to the requirements of Governor Gretchen Whitmer, students in grades 6 to 12 must wear masks throughout their studies, except for lunch or if they have no medical capabilities.
Students from kindergarten to fifth grade do not have to wear masks in the classroom, but they must wear masks during the bus or transition period.
Although the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention research shows that the risk of COVID-19 in children does not seem to be high, it still recommends that children slow the spread of children over 2 years old.
Similar to CDC’s adult guidelines, children’s face coverings should be firmly attached and completely cover the nose and mouth without causing pain.
Few children want to wear something that covers their face, makes breathing hot and droops their ears, but this is necessary. And require schools to wear masks compulsorily.
Therefore, the question becomes: in the world, how to make a confused, anxious or stubborn child wear a mask?
If your child is struggling with a mask, here are some tips from Reviewed.com, part of USA Today, to help them prepare for the unusual 2020-21 school year.
It is hard to imagine that your child would be uncomfortable wearing a mask. Frankly speaking, this is not as comfortable for us as adults.
But don’t tell them. If your child hears you mention that your mask is unwell, they are more likely to refuse to wear a mask themselves.
If they still complain about discomfort, treat the problem like other things the child doesn’t want to do, but like brushing their teeth or going to bed.
Instead of telling children that masks are not to protect them, it is better to tell them that they are to keep everyone safe and healthy. In this way, it focuses on health benefits, not dangers.
Make them feel like superheroes: wearing masks, they are protecting bus drivers, teachers, classmates, grandparents and neighbors.
There are a large number of masks, fabrics and accessories that make children’s masks interesting and lack a clinical appearance than typical medical masks.
Let your children choose which fabric or design they want to wear, or which accessories, rhinestones or beads to decorate, and make them excited to wear to school. And there are many!
In the next few days of the day before school starts, have your child wear a mask around the house. First set the timer to one hour, and then gradually increase the time, so the first day of school is not shocked.
In addition, if they need a breath of fresh air during class, ask them if they need to rest, in case they need to get permission from the teacher.
